How it works
One 3am feed, start to finish.
Here is the whole loop: what you tap, what happens, and what it costs you in attention. The phone on this page is a recreation of the app's own Today screen, modelled on its current layout rather than on a mock-up.
The plan
Ready in three steps — two of them before she's born.
No migration, no import, no setup call. Do the first two on a quiet weekend; the third is the only one that happens at 3am.
- 01
Set it up this weekend
Install it and add your due date — or her birthday, if she's already here. Then pick how you'll feed in Settings. Two minutes, and no account needed.
- 02
Invite each other
One of you signs in and sets up sharing on the Family tab, then sends an invite code. Partner, grandparent, nanny — everyone sees the same log, with who logged what.
- 03
Tap from day one
Every feed, diaper and nap is one tap — or one sentence, once you switch voice on — on whichever phone is closest.
What it looks like
Two weeks in, nobody is the memory.
It's on both phones before the car seat is in
Set up on a quiet weekend, so the first entry is a tap rather than an install.
Whoever's awake taps once
A feed, a change, a nap — one tap on the nearest phone, and everyone's screen has it.
The first visit is a hand-over, not a quiz
Hand over the phone, or the one-page visit report of the last two weeks.
Handoffs take seconds
No debrief, no “wait, did you?” — the day is on the screen, and so is who logged it.
From nervous first-timers hoping to remember it all to a team that came home ready.
Twelve seconds, on a loop, with no sound: a tap, the numeral, the undo window, and back to the start.
The three flows
Every log is one press and a buzz.
Counted from the Today screen being open. They do not include the part where you find your phone, which is the slowest step and the one we cannot fix.
A bottle
- 1
The Bottle button already shows the amount you usually give at this hour.
- 2
Tap it. If tonight was different, the − and + beside the amount move it half an ounce at a time first.
- 3
A short buzz, and the log is in. Nothing pops open.
A diaper
- 1
The Diaper card has a strip: Wet, Poopy, Both. Leave it, or tap the one that happened.
- 2
Tap Diaper. It logs at the size you used last, so the common case is done.
- 3
Dry, a different size, or an earlier time? Hold the card instead.
A sleep
- 1
Tap Nap when she goes down. The button turns to Asleep and counts the time.
- 2
Tap it again when she wakes. That is the entire session.
- 3
Between naps the same button tells you how long she has been awake.
The prediction
It isn't AI. It's the median of your own nights.
When Beacon Baby offers three ounces at 3am, that number came out of your log and nowhere else.
The app looks at the bottles you have logged around this hour over the last two weeks and takes the middle of them. That is the whole algorithm. Until there is any history, it starts at three ounces. There is no model, no training, no population chart, and no other family's data involved — which is why it cannot quietly drift into giving advice.
It is also why the number is never presented as a target. It is not what your baby should take. It is what your baby usually takes, at this hour, according to you.
