Free is not the trial. Free is the app.

Everything you actually reach for at 3am costs nothing and always will. The free tier has no countdown, no card, and no feature that stops working in a week.

Everything you use at 3am stays free — logging, voice, undo, export and sharing. Plus is for the rest of the story: a second child, a season of trends, and the firsts worth keeping.

When you want more than the night

Beacon Baby Plus

$24.99a year

about $2.08 a month · save 30% vs monthly

or $2.99 a month

For when one baby becomes two, when you want to see a season rather than a week, or when the first smile deserves more than memory. Plus starts with a 7-day free trial if your Apple ID hasn't had one.

  • 30 and 90 days of trends, on all 24 measures
  • More than one child, each under their own name
  • Photos and milestones: the firsts, kept on your phone
  • Highlights: firsts, records and streaks from your own log
  • Pumping and baths by tap or voice; medicines and vaccinations by tap
  • One subscription covers everyone in your Apple Family Sharing group

If Plus lapses, nothing you logged is removed — children you've added stay, and every entry stays in History and in your export.

Upgrade inside the app, any time

Plus starts with a 7-day free trial if your Apple ID hasn't had one. The free trial converts to a paid subscription unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings. Nothing you have logged is ever taken away — if a subscription lapses, your entries stay on your device and stay exportable.

What's in Plus

Five things Plus adds. None of them is the 3am part.

In the order the app's own Plus sheet shows them. Longer trends live on the Trends tab and a second child on Family; the rest stay hidden until you switch them on in Settings → Today screen → More trackers.

  1. 30 and 90 days of trends

A month of feeds, sleep and changes at a glance

Free shows the last seven days. Plus opens 30 and 90 days on every one of the 24 measures — volume per day, longest stretch, wake-ups at night and the rest — so a season reads as a shape rather than a week of noise.

When someone asks how the last month has gone, you can look instead of reconstructing it.

The Trends tab in night mode: volume per day for the last seven days as bars, with 7 days, 30 days and 90 days chips underneath.
The real Trends tab. Seven days is free; the 30- and 90-day chips are Plus.
  2. More than one child

Every child, under the right name

Twins, or a toddler and a newborn: each child keeps their own log under their own name, and every entry goes to the right one.

Children sync over sharing too, so a second child works for the whole family.

Drawn from the app's Plus sheet.
  3. Photos and milestones

Keep the photos and the firsts

A first smile gets a title, a date, a note and a photo if you want one, and the photos collect in a gallery of their own.

Photos stay on your phone. They never sync, even when sharing is on.

Drawn from the app's Plus sheet.
  4. Highlights

The week, gathered into a few plain highlights

Gathered from the last 120 days of your own log: each first, the longest sleep stretch, the biggest bottle, how many days running you have logged, the hour bottles cluster in, and your recent milestones.

Plain records of what happened. No scores, and no verdict on the baby.

Example entries, in the exact form the app writes them.
  5. Pumping, baths, medicines and vaccinations

Pumping, baths and medicines in the same log

Pumping in half-ounce steps and a bath in one button, by tap, by voice or with Siri.

Medicines live in a cabinet: a name and a dose however you write it, then one tap records it. At 2am, “Taken today” shows whether the vitamin D drop was already given.

When daycare asks for the immunization record, it is in your pocket — the name as written on the record and the date given — and it prints on the free visit report for your pediatrician. In the app's own words: Beacon Baby keeps the record. Which are due, and when, is between you and your clinic.

Drawn from the app's Plus sheet.

What the app shows you

The same sheet, the same prices.

This is the Plus sheet inside Beacon Baby, captured from the app. Yearly is picked for you, and the trial line only appears when your Apple ID hasn't had one. It opens on whichever Plus feature you tapped.

The sheet's own footer: “Everything you use at 3am stays free: logging, voice, undo, export and sharing.”

The Beacon Baby Plus sheet: a card reading “Keep the photos and the firsts”, then “7 days free, then $24.99 per year”, a yearly plan at $24.99 a year marked Save 30%, a monthly plan at $2.99 a month, and a Start free trial button.

The obvious question

If it's free and it has no ads, what's the catch?

There isn't one, and the reason is boring: some people will have a second baby, or want the full ninety days of history, or want photos attached to milestones. Those people pay $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year. That is the entire business model.

We are not monetizing the free tier some other way. The app has no analytics and no advertising SDK, so there is no data to sell and no ad network to join — those doors were closed by the architecture before there was a price list.

A free baby tracker with an advertising SDK in it is still being paid for, just not with money, and not on terms you get to read. We would rather charge the people who want more features.

If you do want Plus

Two options. The yearly one is cheaper.

Both start with a 7-day free trial, if your Apple ID hasn't had one. Bought inside the app through your Apple ID, shared with your household through Apple's Family Sharing, and cancelled from your Apple ID settings without emailing anybody.

Money questions

What people ask before they pay.

Is Beacon Baby free?

Yes, for everything you use at 3am, and the free tier never expires. Logging bottles, nursing, diapers, sleep, growth and solids, voice logging, Siri, the Apple Watch app, undo, the Summary and History tabs, care summaries, sharing one log with a partner or anyone else you invite, night mode in either style, reminders, the last seven days of trends, and full JSON export are all free. Beacon Baby Plus is $24.99 a year or $2.99 a month, starts with a 7-day free trial if your Apple ID hasn't had one, and adds 30- and 90-day trends, more than one child, photos and milestones, highlights, pumping and baths, and medicines and vaccinations.

How does the free trial work?

Both Plus plans start with 7 days free if your Apple ID hasn't had a Beacon Baby trial before, and the app only offers the trial when it applies. You start it from the Plus sheet inside the app and confirm with Apple; nothing is charged during the trial. Unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes a paid subscription at the plan you picked — $24.99 a year or $2.99 a month — charged to your Apple ID. The free tier is not part of this: it never expires.

Which plan should I pick?

If you expect to keep Plus for more than about eight months, yearly costs less: $24.99, against $35.88 for twelve months of monthly. If you want one thing for a short stretch — pumping for a few months, say — monthly lets you stop when you are done. Both start with the same 7-day trial if your Apple ID hasn't had one. And if all you need is the 3am part, pick neither: the free tier never expires.

Twins, or a second child?

A second child is part of Plus. One child is free; with Plus you add more from the Family tab, each with their own name and their own log. Children sync over sharing, so everyone you share the log with sees them. If Plus lapses, children you have added stay and can still be logged, and adding another one needs Plus again.

Does my partner get Plus too?

Yes, if you are in the same Apple Family Sharing group: both Plus plans can be shared that way, so one subscription unlocks Plus on each family member's own iPhone. Sharing the log is a separate thing. It is free, and inviting someone from the Family tab shares the log, not the subscription — Plus only ever comes through Apple. Someone you share the log with outside your Apple Family Sharing group gets every free feature on the shared log, and would need their own Plus for the Plus screens.

How do I cancel Plus?

From your Apple ID's subscriptions in the iPhone Settings app, or from Manage subscription in Beacon Baby's own Settings (the gear on Today), which opens the same screen. There is no web account to sign in to and nobody to email. Plus stays on until the end of the period you have already paid for; cancel at least 24 hours before it renews to avoid the next charge.

What happens to my Plus data if I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. Children you have added stay and can still be logged; adding another one needs Plus again. Trends go back to showing the last 7 days, but the older data is still there. Pumping, baths, medicines, vaccinations and milestones you recorded stay in History, Summary, the care summary and your export, and recorded vaccinations still print on the visit report. What locks is the Plus screens themselves, and voice and Siri stop logging pumping and baths. While Apple is retrying a failed payment, Plus stays on; a refunded subscription ends it straight away.

What happens to my data if I stop paying, or delete the app?

Nothing you logged is ever taken away — if a Plus subscription lapses, your entries stay on your device, stay in History, and stay exportable. Deleting the app removes every entry and photo from that device. If you never used sharing we hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to delete. If you did, Delete my account, under Family → Account and sync, removes your account. If nobody else is in your household, the server copy of the log goes with it; if your partner is still in it, the shared log stays with them. Either way your own log stays on your phone.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, at any time, from the Trends tab: the full history exports as plain JSON with no proprietary wrapper, and can be restored from the same file. The point of keeping everything on your device is that leaving has to be as easy as arriving.

What do I need to run it?

An iPhone running iOS 26 or later. There is an Apple Watch app included for watchOS 26 or later, which logs a bottle, a wet diaper, or the start or end of a nap in one tap; each tap is logged when your iPhone app next receives it. Portrait only on purpose — a landscape layout is one more thing to get wrong at 3am — and there is no iPad, Android, or web version. The app is in English.

Start with free. It's the whole 3am job.

If you never upgrade, nothing stops working and nobody emails you about it.
