Asked to keep a log
Somebody asked you to write it down.
A weight check, a feeding plan, a follow-up in two weeks. Whatever the reason, you now have homework with a deadline. This page is about getting it done in seconds a day, not about why you were asked.
We do not know why you were asked, and we are not going to guess.
Beacon Baby is a log, not a monitor. It records what you enter and reports it back. It will not tell you whether a number is reassuring or worrying, and nothing on this page is medical advice.
The person who asked you to track is the person to ask what it means. If something is worrying you before that appointment, call them rather than reading further.
What to write down
Only the four things you were probably asked for.
If your instructions named something else, add it in Settings. If they did not, leave it off — a screen full of fields you were not asked about is a screen you have to read past at 3am.
Every feed, with the amount
Time and ounces for a bottle. For nursing, the length and which side. Beacon Baby fills the time in for you, and the amount is one tap when it is the usual.
Wet and dirty diapers
Which kind and when. Wet, poopy or both is one tap, at the size you used last; dry is a hold away.
Sleep, if you were asked for it
Down and up. One tap when she goes down, one when she wakes, and the time in between is counted for you.
Anything they specifically named
Weight, length and head size have a Growth button under the log buttons from the start. Medicines and vaccinations, part of Plus, are switched on in Settings → Today screen → More trackers, so the screen stays as short as your instructions.

View allHanding it over
Four ways, and one of them is just showing them the screen.
- 01
Show them the phone
History has every entry in order, Summary has the day's totals, and Trends charts the last 7 days on the free tier, 30 and 90 with Plus. For most follow-ups this is all that is wanted.
- 02
Or bring the one-page report
From the Growth screen, the visit report is a single page covering the last two weeks. It has counts of bottles, feeds at the breast and diaper changes, and sleep per day with the published sleep range for her age beside it as context, never as a score. It also lists the measurements you entered and any vaccinations. Print it or send it ahead of the appointment.
- 03
Or share a single measure as text
Any trend can be shared straight out of the app as plain text (volume per day, wet per day, longest stretch), which is easy to paste into a portal message.
- 04
Or export the lot as a file
On the Trends tab, tap the share button, then Export everything. It is a JSON file of the complete history, in a file you hold. Note that the export is not encrypted, so treat it like any other document about your child.
Why this matters more than usual for you
A log you abandon is worse than no log.
If you have been asked to track, the record has to survive two weeks of the worst sleep of your life — and the thing that kills a log is never intention. It is friction. Twelve taps into a form at 3am works on night one and is abandoned by night four, and a log with a hole in the middle is the one outcome that helps nobody.
That is the entire reason Beacon Baby is one tap, or one spoken sentence without looking at the screen. Not to be clever about speed — so that the record is still complete when you hand it over.
Stuck, or asked for something Beacon Baby does not record? Email danluk1311@gmail.com and you will get a real answer from the person who wrote the app.
