Trends
24 measures. Zero opinions.
Everything here is derived from your own log by plain arithmetic. Beacon Baby will tell you what happened in exhaustive detail and will never once tell you what it means.

Why you can trust the numbers
Seven ways a baby-tracking chart is usually wrong.
A wrong chart does not crash. It just quietly shows you a number that is not true, at the hour you are least able to question it. Each of these is a named rule in the trends engine with its own test.
- 01
A day is a day where you are, not where the server is
Days follow your calendar and time zone. A feed at 11:50pm belongs to that day, not to UTC's.
- 02
A sleep that crosses midnight is counted once
A nap that runs past midnight is split at midnight: each day gets its own part, and no minute is counted twice. Counting the boundary on both sides would quietly inflate total sleep.
- 03
Hour-of-day folds 90 days into 24 buckets, not 2,160
“Feeds by hour” is a cyclic grain. Getting this wrong turns a useful shape into noise.
- 04
An empty window says so
No data draws “Nothing logged in this window yet”, never a zero. A zero at 3am reads as a reproach.
- 05
A partial first day is not averaged in as a low day
The day you installed the app is not evidence that your baby ate less.
- 06
A comparison needs enough days to compare
Below the threshold the caption says “not enough days yet to compare” instead of inventing a trend from four data points.
- 07
Nothing is ever labeled good or bad
Captions read “steady over 30 days” or “up 12% versus earlier”. Never “low”, never “concerning”. The only published ranges in the app are the faint WHO band on growth and one line of context in the visit report, both without a score.
What it is for
Mostly, for one conversation.
The two-week visit asks how she is feeding. The two-month visit asks about sleep. Somewhere in there someone asks when the last poopy diaper was and you have genuinely no idea, because it was Tuesday and it is now Thursday and the days have stopped being separate things.
That is what this is for. Not for optimizing anything — for having the answer, so the appointment is a conversation instead of a quiz you did not study for.
Any metric can be shared as plain text straight out of the app, the Growth screen makes a one-page report of the last two weeks to bring along, and the whole history exports as JSON. Here is what actually gets asked, visit by visit.
Start logging tonight. Have the answer on Thursday.
Seven days is enough for a shape to appear — and the last seven days are always free.
